Anguilla – 2020 and Beyond: What’s in store this year

There’s a lot going on in Anguilla so let us give you a snapshot on certain key initiatives:

Company Legislation:

Currently we have a ‘local’ Companies Act and an International Business Companies Act. It is intended that these Acts will be superseded by a totally new Act which will not only provide clarity but will make Anguilla even more attractive to corporate service providers and end-users alike.

Company Manager and Trust Manager Licensing

In 2020 it is envisaged that legislation will be created to simplify these two historically discrete licensing regimes into one, allowing for more clarity and efficiencies.

ACORN and Substance Reporting

2020 is going to be a pretty exciting year at the Registry of Commercial Activities. Whilst the current ACORN system is world-leading, they are intending to develop a whole new system that is based on Windows 10 which will have many features intended to make the user experience even better. The system will also allow for “substance reporting” on one platform, inputted at the same time as the annual returns. Another piece of evidence that shows that we are thinking continuously about the user.

PARCs and Captives

Whilst we are at the forefront of the micro-captive industry we are constantly developing our products and are currently reviewing our legislation to ensure that our products are even more attractive. More on this in the next few weeks.

Training and Development

Like anybody involved in a global market one must continuously develop in terms of quality and products. Following on from the recent, excellently-received Compliance Conference “Charting the Course: AML/CFT for Greater Resilience” there will be various events, both conferences and workshops, organized to ensure that all providers are well versed on compliance, industry developments and service issues. It is the intent of Anguilla Finance to discuss with all parties the direction of the industry in the months and years to come.
